This is my first blog post on motospace, and a bit of a catch up on my 2009 WERA West Season.   

Round 5 was at Miller Motorsports Park, May 22-24.  I was leading the points championships in all 3 of my classes, and would be happy leaving the event still in the lead.  Round 5 happened to be a National round also with big names like Batey, and Knapp, racing in my races.  Miller always takes a bit of getting used to, its high speed, with long sweeping turns.  The track has a 3/4 mile straitaway, speeds get  up to 180mph.  Practice went well on Friday, strated with some basic chassis goemetry changes, then worked with suspension dampening.  Saturday was only one practice session for me, most of the day was for the 6-hour enduro.  Then came sunday, raceday!   As we rolled into the track at 6:30am, we all new it might rain.  By 8am it was pouring rain.  Being from So Cal, I had never raced in the rain before.  At this point, I was going to be happy with just finishing all 3 races.  Race #1 (Superstock) was pouring rain!  I could hardly see, due to my inexperience I was moved back to 11th, but I was able to pass 4 guys on the last lap to get a 7th place finish.  Race # 2 (Superbike) was a drying track, we made a change to dry tires at the last minute.  As the track dried, the racers on rain tires, had major tire overheating problems, and went to the back.  My dry tires came in, passed about 5 riders for a 5th place finish.   Race #3 (F1) For this race the track was fully dry.  I battled with Eddie Barajas for 2nd place during the whole race, but during the final lap, I lost a fork seal and had to settle for 3rd.  AMA regular, Knapp finished 1st.   I was able to finish all three races, and pull out even more of a points lead- it was a good weekend!
